If you arrive into Changi Airport on an early Sunday morning, and have at least 8 hours to spare, check out this exciting list of what to see and do! Head to the train and get the first train out of the airport at 6am.
I bought a ticket from the airport to Raffles Place. You need to change trains with everyone else at Tanah Merah. Then that train will take you to Raffles Place Train Station.
1. Merlion and Marina Bay Sunrise.
I wanted to see the sunrise and take some pictures of the Bay near the Marina Bay Sands so I walked as fast as possible from the Raffles Place Station to the Merlion as I could see the sun starting to rise.
After the sunrise and all your photos, walk around the Bay, over the Esplanade Bridge then the Helix Bridge until you reach The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Then walk over Bayfront Avenue to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and follow the signs to “Gardens by the Bay”.
2. Gardens by the Bay (Cloud Forest & OCBC Walkway).
Ticketing office opens at 9am, so have a wander around the gardens before you get your tickets.
After you’ve visited those two sights, make your way to the Downtown train line that you can easily get to from the gardens (Bayfront Station). It’s located near the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Underground.
Get the Downtown Line train that takes you to Bugis and disembark there. The Mosque is less than a 10 minute walk from Bugis train station.
3. Sultan Mosque and Little India.
This is a great little spot to wander the small streets and buy some market goods (souvenirs, clothing etc).
In between those sights, you have time to relax and eat at restaurants/cafes.
4. Back to the Airport.
Walk back to Bugis train station and get on the East-West Line to Tanah Merah then change trains to the airport train.
Wah-la! Back at the airport for dinner and your next flight.
