Vegan Bali – What to eat in Ubud, Kuta, Sanur, Uluwatu and Bedugul

In Bali (and East Java) you can get such a multitude of different dishes, from Indian, Raw Vegan, Balinese, Pizza, Indonesian, Smoothie Bowls, Juices, Chinese, Burgers, Pasta, to Charcoal Waffles! Every single cuisine on earth you’ll be able to find on this beautiful island. Check out what I ate when I visited in May 2019.

Atman Nourish Kafe

Jl. Hanoman No.43B, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali 80571

Sister restaurant to Atman Kafe, this one is primarily vegetarian and vegan with lots of whole foods. Because it was right next to my Homestay, I dined here a lot!

Balinese Curry
Smoothie Bowl
Kow Pad Kra Pao
Vegan Coconut Bread
Vegan Pizza
Watermelon Slushie
Fruit Platter

Roti Daal

Jl. Raya Ubud, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali 80571

Really nice Indian place with Vegan Thali’s and you can sit upstairs and watch the chaos of one of the main roads of Ubud haha.

Vegan Thali

Uma Resto

Monkey Forest St, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali 80571

Right next to the Monkey Forest Entrance is this nice open restaurant where you’ll most likely see a monkey or two. I had a fruit platter and a coffee smoothie!

Pissari Bali Cafe

Monkey Forest St No.88X, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali 80571

What a beautiful place! Looking out into the rice fields is so calming. I had the Vegan Satay and it was amazing!

Tukies Coconut Shop

Jl. Raya Ubud No.14, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali 80571

This is such a cute place! With coconuts rolling around on the floor this small cafe has a great character about it!

I had the Mango Coconut Crush and it was sooooo good!

They also have other food you can buy like snacks and coconut vegan Icecream.

Earth Cafe and Market

Jl. Goutama Sel., Ubud, Kec. Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

The cafe is upstairs and has such a chill vibe. I had the whole grain Nasi Goreng and some fresh orange juice.

Vegan Bali

Bedugul Lane No.5, Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80361

It was originally called “Tasty Vegan” but changed its name early 2019. What a cute little place! There’s only about 5 tables there and it was always nice and quiet when I went. I dined here a few times because it was convenient to where I was staying. Everything was amazing!!!

Charcoal Waffles with Icecream
Pancakes with Icecream
Spring Rolls
Curry Rice

Here’s the menu! Click on the photos to enlarge them and see what they have.

Made’s Warung

Jl. Pantai Kuta, Banjar Pande Mas, Kuta, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Nice atmosphere with traditional wood everywhere. I had a Vegetable Mie Goreng but it didn’t have any flavour whatsoever lol. Oh well

Billy’s Lake View Restaurant.

Jl. Raya Bedugul, Candikuning, Baturiti, Tabanan Regency, Bali 82191

Directly next to the Ulan Danu Beratan Hindu Temple is this absolutely beautiful restaurant on the edge of the lake. The views are stunning here! And they have a special vegetarian menu.

I had the Gado Gado with no egg and no prawn crackers. That was vegan 🙂

Uluwatu Street No.9-7, Ungasan, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80361

In Uluwatu, next to the entrance of GWK and the Pepito Market, is this cute little cafe that serves great food. I had the veggie curry with no yoghurt and that made it vegan. They understand what vegan means here and a lot of their menu items can be tweaked to be vegan.

Genius Cafe

Jl. Kusuma Sari, Sanur Kauh, Kec. Denpasar Sel., Kota Denpasar, Bali 80228

This is located directly on the beach. I had the dragon berry smoothie and the smashed avocado.

Made’s Warung

Once you’ve gone through security, there is another Made’s Warung in the Terminal (near Gate 2 if i remember correctly). They can make you vegan options like fried rice with vegetables or noodles with vegetables.

I’m going to add EAST JAVA here too because I went over there for two nights to climb Mt Ijen, an active volcano.

Warung Lestari

This is located out the front of where I stayed, Nitha Homestay which is directly opposite Karangasem Train Station.

I had a small card with me that said what Vegan was in Indonesian and she made the tastiest Mie Goreng with vegetables I’ve ever had! I definitely recommend going here if you’re heading to climb the volcano.

And because I stayed overnight, I had a free breakfast too and I asked for fruit and the fruit was so tropical and colourful and fresh 🙂
